​Legal Video Marketing Case Study Overview

We created eight Facebook ads for a law firm, with the visual elements of the ads divided this way:
​
Four with video:
  • One about the practice, overall
  • Three videos, each of which focused on one particular attorney in the practice, each providing information about a specific aspect of relevant law

Four without video:
  • One with an image of an award received (also contained text)
  • One with a clearly negative image of a person
  • One with a clearly positive image of a person
  • One with an image of stacks of money

Each ad was funded by the same dollar amount, and run the same number of days.

Legal Video Marketing Results

Each of the image-based Facebook ads received hundreds of engagements, which are respectable results, without a doubt – while each of the video-based ads received literally thousands of engagements in just one week’s time.
When looking just at the image-based ads, they were successful in this order:
  • Positive image
  • Image of money
  • Negative image
  • Text-based ad

​Yet . . . the LEAST successful video ad was EIGHT TIMES as successful as the MOST successful image-based ad. And, the most successful video ad was nearly ten times as successful as the best-received image-based ad. Clearly, the ads containing videos created audience engagement. The videos that featured an attorney explaining an aspect of the law performed better than the video that focused on the practice, overall, most likely because people like to listen to and engage with other people.

2017 is the Year of Legal Video Marketing

In marketing, it’s crucial to be where your audience is – and, in 2017 (and well beyond, we suspect!) people will be consuming quality video. In fact, digital marketing giant HubSpot says the following in a 2017 article about video marketing: “Video is growing to dominate your audience’s online activity: 78% of people watch videos online every week, and 55% watch videos online every day. If you don’t already have a video marketing strategy in place for your website and social media, you’re missing a tremendous opportunity to reach and engage with your audience.”

Here is what Wordstream has to say on the subject in March 2017:
  • 51 percent of marketing professionals from around the globe say that video content has the best return on investment
  • If you use video in your marketing, your revenue is projected to grow 49 percent faster than if you don’t use video
  • When executives were surveyed, 59 percent of them said that, if they can choose between reading text or watching video on a topic, they are more likely to select video
  • Social video (such as on Facebook!) generates 1,200 percent more shares than text and images combined!

Forbes, meanwhile, is calling video the future of content marketing. More specifically, “In today’s fast-paced world, video marketing is one of the few types of online material that provides the value, relevance and flexibility consumers need, all while catering to the on-the-go lifestyle they want.”
